As we are unable to get Singapore’s land use shapefile from URA, we digitised the land use map and classified the polygons according to the land uses as stated in the Land Use Plan 2013. |

overview
We ensured that all data used in this project follow the below projection and coordinate system:
Projected Coordinate System: SVY21
Projection: Transverse_Mercator
Geographic Coordinate System: GCS_WGS_1984
Due to the limited availability of data in its machine-readable format, several datasets were digitised from PDF documents or images obtained from the Government websites. Where necessary, a variety of tools - such as Iso Cluster Unsupervised Classification and Elimination - was used to speed up the process of digitisation and removal of digitisation errors. The digitised data were also georeferenced using at least 10 well-distributed control points under a 1st Order Polynomial (Affine) transformation, and efforts were made to keep the total root-mean-square (RMS) error as low as possible.
In addition, maps of Singapore from Streetdirectory and iTouchMap were used to calculate the buffer distances from the shoreline and residences.
