After obtaining potential sites for the 5th incineration plant in Part 1, a cost distance analysis was conducted to find out which site would be more cost efficient for the waste management system in Singapore. This part is made up of two components, (1) obtaining the Waste Distribution across Planning Areas and (2) conducting the Weighted Cost Distance Analysis. Data on waste generation (which are subsequently incinerated) was used to calculate waste distribution across planning areas. A model in Microsoft Excel was then employed to conduct a weighted cost distance analysis.
